I've always been a joiner. Take my 30+ years of participation in and globetrotting with the Girl Scouts. Or my nearly 9 years as part of our dance company, Ragsidad.
And since joining the blog community, it has been fun to join in on swaps and projects and many challenges and groups on flickr. And one of the best, no stress, join in's has been sewing along with Kelli & Finny. Last year it was Amy Butler. This year, Simple Gifts to Stitch. And although my participation has been lackluster, they have kept me thinking (and buying fabric).
So July's sewing adventure: something for a child. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. Meet Ms. Bunny.
She's recycled from a fuzzy boucle maternity dress that was handed down to me and no one else wanted handed over (no big surprise there). I folded the dress in half, pinned the tissue paper pattern tracing on and sewed through the tissue. Rip, cut, turn, stuff. It took longer to find my scissors than it did to sew her up. The boucle made the embroidery all wonky, but really, is a baby going to care? I think not. And I feel happy to have one more addition to the Christmas in Progress pile (another join-in) and one more thing sewn-along.
What are you participating in?
